International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month both aim to honor and celebrate women’s achievements. What a perfect moment for us to use this day as an opportunity to highlight the feminist foundations of our organization, and the trailblazing women who set out to make a difference in the lives of Monmouth County women back in 1976.
Our Founding Mothers were determined to offer services to all women in need of support. The need for sexual assault and domestic violence counseling, mental health reform, gender equality and justice for all, were just some of their round-table discussions which became the founding principals upon which 180 was built.
Thank you to all the trailblazing women who have come before us and those who had the foresight to know that victims of domestic and sexual violence need immediate support, counseling, safe shelter and a space to heal. We are forever grateful.
